Born in Melbourne in 1963 of Greek origins, George Vrastaminos later moved to the wine region in the Riverland, South Australia. Completing a course in architecture, it wasn’t too long before automotive art became the focus of his work and the field in which he established a career as an artist.

In 2000 he moved to Hanover Germany, where he is currently based.
Self-taught, using a paintbrush and only the five basic colours, he works using acrylic with the painting laid flat on a table.

Working with photographs, each painting takes weeks to complete and is often mistaken for airbrush style. Revealing a fascination with reflection, his precise style of representation and sharp eye for detail portrays richness and accurate attention to create dramatic light within photorealism.

Best known for my distinguished brush strokes, my artistic output to date reflects my interest in historical, contemporary and modern automotive art. In 2002 i was offered to create the Concourse d’Elegance Villa d’Este poster in Italia.

With a number of exhibitions, awards and a variety of magazine features, his work has been widely collected throughout three continents. Other works include abstract and Greek art, landscapes, wildlife, company logos and portraits.

”Within Automotive art I view the genuine object and its construction as an independent and dynamic form of art itself and view the automobile as a rolling sculpture”.
